PHILADELPHIA —
Nearly 21 pounds of marijuana were seized from a woman’s luggage at Philadelphia International Airport, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Drug-detecting dog Gini alerted officers to the marijuana in the baggage of a French woman traveling to London.
Officials said the marijuana weight 20 pounds, 10 ounces.
It has a street value of about $20,000 in the U.S.
Investigators said high-quality, high-potency marijuana grown in the U.S. is selling for a huge markup overseas. Officials estimated that this load of marijuana would fetch about $100,000 in France and $200,000 in the United Kingdom.
The woman was not criminally charged and allowed to continue her trip.
News 8 asked CBP why. They instead told us to ask prosecutors but said the amount possibly didn’t meet a charging threshold.
