PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) — Cannabis sold at multiple stores in Maine has been recalled due to select strains failing a “Yeast and Mold Test.”
The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy issued the recall for a strain of cannabis flower and three strains of “pre-rolls” produced by the company “Cannabis Cured.”
The recalled marijuana was sold at eight different stores across Bangor, Carrabassett Valley, Damariscotta, Eliot, Fairfield, Stratton, Thomaston, and Northport.
According to the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy, smoking marijuana containing unsafe levels of mold can lead to “sinus issues, allergies, headaches, dizziness, or fatigue.”
The MOCP advises anyone who has bought the recalled cannabis to return the products to the retailer who made the sale, or dispose of them. Additionally, they warn that any consumer “who has ingested these products and is experiencing symptoms or adverse reactions should contact their physician immediately.”
The affected products were reportedly sold betweenAug. 27, 2024, and Sept. 9, 2024.
All cannabis packages purchased in Maine are required to have a label that indicates the product’s batch number. The MOCP says that consumers who are concerned should check this label to see if it is included in the recall.
