Lunaven (I) aka Star Killer x Death Star
This is a new strain cross for us in Connecticut, but we do have both of these genetic parents already helping patients. Star Killer is locally grown by two CT growers, AGL Indicol H, and CPS Fioraden A, while Curaleaf Onyx is a Death Star offering.

We don’t say this often, but when we do we mean it – buckle up and get ready to visit outer space. Star Killer, bred from Rare Dankness #2 and Skywalker OG, is a super potent indica-dominant strain that’s won countless awards. Aside from being so damn potent, many love this strain due to her ease of home cultivation and her immense yields. Death Star is an Indica dominant hybrid strain of marijuana known for its potency and having a creeping onset. While you may be eying this strain in particular as a Star Wars fan, it’s got a lot more going for it than just a cool name.
Death Star is a cross of the infamous Sour Diesel and Sensi Star. This cross-breeding results in Death Star having a mix of both indica and sativa effects, giving it a nice balance. This strain is renowned for having high THC Content with potent effects. The buds are thick, fat, and sticky.
Death Star features dark orange hairs on dark green leaves, but can also feature bright, green leaves with darker green accents, and the same vibrant, amber trichomes. Death Star has a pungent, Earthy aroma, many likening its powerful fragrance as similar to that of a skunk.
Bear in mind it’s going to be a bit tricky covering of the strong odor of Death Star even just breaking up the sticky buds will leave the room with that unmistakable Death Star scent. Death Star’s journey began in Ohio in the early 2000s. The strain was developed by ‘Team Death Star,’ who only began popularizing the strain in 2004. Death Star then grew in popularity throughout the Midwest and up and down the East Coast. In 2010, right around a decade after Death Star was conceived, it was featured in High Times.
Death Star can be grown both indoors and outdoors, the flowering period generally lasting around 65 days. It is known to grow in short bushes, and the buds are generally smaller.
Calavec (I) aka Cold Creek Kush (MK Ultra x Chemdawg 91)
Cold Creek Kush might sound familiar and you would be correct in believing so. That’s because the Cold Creek Kush genetic lineage is already available in the CT Medical Marijuana Program. Theraplant, one of the four MMP growers, has the strain within their catalog of cultivars and have released it under the brand name “Quintica.”

Local Journalist and CT MMP patient, John Watkins, reviewed Quintica a while back on Releaf and here is what he had to say about the offering:
Out of the container, it gave an earthy/spicy aroma. It had a really strong nose too, rich and pungent. I really liked that. Then pouring it out onto my preparation tray the flowers were entrancing with crystals and PURPLE. And man oh man, I sure do love purple…
Once the flowers were broken up, it looked much darker and gave a slightly sweeter nose. Sweet is good too. Now off to a paper.
Combustion is my preference for ingestion. I really feel you get the full flavor and sensations of the flower with this method. What can I say? I’m a traditionalist.
Once the fires were burning the air was filled with a spicy/sweet aroma. On the inhale a spicy/earthy flavor filled my taste buds while leaving a slightly sweet aftertaste on the expel. Not harsh at all, in fact, it was very smooth for the length of the entire session of consumption.
In the end, this was a nice Indica flower. Classic Indica sensations leaving the world slightly heavier and just a bit further away than normal. Very enjoyable and great for night time usage. Extremely relaxing. On a side note, it was very reasonably priced so it is likely to end up in the medicine cabinet again.
