EAST HARTFORD — Since the town’s first cannabis cultivation facility was unanimously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission in August, the company behind the project has submitted another application to scale it down.
C3 Industries, based in Michigan, was originally going to use the entire complex at 221-241 Park Ave. for its $12 million facility. However, the company now plans to only use part of 241 Park Ave. and not use 221 Park Ave., and has requested that the address for the complex be changed to 241 Park Ave., with off-site parking at 191A Park Ave.
The application was approved at a PZC meeting on Dec. 13.
Town Planner Carlene Shaw said that because C3 Industries wanted to scale back the project, the town had to consider it a new application.
According to the project narrative, C3 Industries plans to use one 58,500-square-foot unit for cannabis cultivation use. The other 60,645-square-foot unit will be for public storage use and stay under the ownership of East Hartford Industrial Park LLC.
