There are also four licensed producers of medical marijuana in West Haven, Portland, Simsbury and Watertown.
Although 23 states have medical marijuana programs, Connecticut’s is the only program that is truly regulated, Harris said. “Connecticut was the first state to adopt a true pharmaceutical model for its medical marijuana program. Patients are able to purchase safe, pharmaceutical grade products from pharmacists at licensed dispensaries in the state.”
