According to Harrelson, the indoor smoking didn’t go over well with bar staff. In one instance, lighting up reportedly set off a fire alarm, while another venue quickly reminded the pair that their activity wasn’t exactly house-approved before showing them the door. Despite the double ejection, Harrelson treated the incidents as lighthearted mischief rather than serious trouble.
McConaughey, whose film career has long carried laid-back, counterculture associations, added that he no longer partakes in modern cannabis, saying today’s stronger varieties don’t agree with him the way they once did.
