The Street Crimes, Vice, and Narcotics units led a series of targeted enforcement actions aimed at curbing the spread of drugs and unregistered weapons.
On August 8, officers arrested a juvenile on Bedford Street found carrying a 9mm “ghost gun” loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. Just days later, a raid on Lawrence Street resulted in the seizure of a 9mm firearm, 973 sleeves of fentanyl, crack cocaine, additional narcotics, and more than $2,400 in cash. Eight individuals were taken into custody in connection with that investigation.
The following day, police executed an operation at TJ Exotics Smoke Shop on Farmington Avenue, where they reported discovering a .380 caliber handgun, fentanyl, marijuana, crack cocaine, psilocybin-infused edibles, codeine, THC products, and $1,689 in cash. Two suspects were arrested on-site.
Another enforcement action on Friday at Members Only Smoke Shop on New Britain Avenue uncovered 20 pounds of marijuana, 100 THC vape cartridges, 128 packages of marijuana, and $2,235 in cash. One suspect was taken into custody.
Police officials emphasized that these operations reflect an ongoing commitment to reducing the presence of illegal drugs and firearms in Hartford. “We will continue our work to hold offenders accountable and to protect the safety of our community,” the Street Crimes and Vice and Narcotics teams stated.
